Operational Risk Management / Initial Event Risk Classification

Operational risks can be determined for each event or incident. eControl provides an Initial Event Risk Classification(IERC)borrowed from Arms Methodology for aviation organisations.

In addition to risk classification, causal factors, hazards, processes, etc. can be attributed and also subjected to a statistical analysis.

Risk database - Risk DB

The risk database - Risk DB allows company-wide hazard identification and uniform risk management. Risks are classified pursuant to ICAO DOC 9859 and the EASA regulations.

Comprehensive reporting facilitates the risk mitigation process and provides the necessary documentary evidence. Documents and risk-reduction measures can be stored in a structured form for each risk.

Linking operational risks inherent in incidents with the risk database ensures that the risk database is complete and the risk classification authentic.

Investigation management

Investigations are a key element of safety culture. If is not possible to obtain a complete or reliable overview of the risks and context of a safety-relevant incident, investigations must be carried out to clarify the facts. eControl enables all investigations to be planned, arranged, documented and monitored.

eControl proposes a standardised workflow framework and thereby contributes towards productively carrying out investigations.

All documents generated in the course of an investigation can be recorded in a tamper-proof way.

The investigation team and other system users can be authorised specifically to process investigations as a team directly in eControl.

Naturally, all investigation results may be linked to all other information recorded in eControl through the eControl Object Explorer.

Committee management

Committees are another key element of safety culture, where information and knowledge of all internal and external organisational units are brought together.

Incidents or investigations are often the subject of discussion at committee meetings (e.g. runway safety committee). This creates a more in-depth understanding of risks thereby facilitating the risk mitigation process.

eControl enables you to plan and organise meetings for all manner of committees. Permanent participants can be managed and, depending on the situation, supplemented using eControl. Participants are invited to meetings, and agenda items, minutes, etc. sent automatically by email.

Participants are generally authorised to view or process meetings directly in eControl for committees or, where required, for individual meetings.

Of course, all committee meetings including appended documents, measures, etc. can be linked to other information recorded in eControl with the aid of the eControl Object Explorer.

Expanded Safety Performance Indicators (SPI)

Indicators, key figures and statistics are a core function of eControl. Safety management’s expanded safety performance indicators supplement indicators to do with targets and ALoS (Acceptable Level of Safety). This target range for indicators can be planned for the future, thereby making the objective identification of the safety programme’s strengths and weaknesses easier.

In accordance with the system standard, reactive, proactive and predictive indicators for the identification of hazards can be used via a flexible query generator.

(Anonymous) Safety notifications

Safety notifications - anonymous or made in person - are an important source of information for safety management.

Safety notifications are created anonymously using a form the customer may customise on the internet or intranet and then transmit in an eControl workflow.

Various query and analysis options simplify the systematic and reliable processing of this source of information.

eControl’s secure standard interface is used to transfer the data. Once the data are in the system, all eControl tools may be used to process and analyse the contents of electronic forms.
